When Accept Incoming Calls for Stock Quotes is checked, Alert Phone will announce stock quotes to incoming callers. Most people already have an answering service, and it was decided to make this feature so that it does not interfere with your current answering system. Call your home, let it ring one time (it is best to wait 3 full seconds after the first ring ends), and call right back. Alert Phone will make sure that the caller id's match, and if so, it will answer with a welcome message. You then choose 1 on your phone to request a stock quote. To enter the symbol, push the number for that letter repeatedly, Alert Phone will announce the letter as you push the number. When the correct letter is announced, press * to record that letter. Alert Phone will immediately announce a verification of all letters recorded so far. When all letters for the stock symbol are entered, press # and Alert Phone will read you the current price for that stock.

The Setup menu allows you to select which modem you would like to use for phone alerts. You will also have access to the Set Up Incoming E-mail Server, which will produce the menu below. Alert Phone will simply scan your e-mails and leave them on your mail server, this way Outlook or any other e-mail program will not be effected in any way.

The Active Alerts list on the right, will display all alerts that you have created. The buttons below the Active Alerts widow allow you to remove alerts. Stock alerts are only read and activated 1 time, after which, that symbol is followed but will not set off alerts. This window will also show current stock prices of all stocks which are under alert. Stock quotes are retrieved from Yahoo.
Clicking the Edit Stock and Email Alerts button will bring up the alert options. Everything in the red window above is for creating new alerts. Here is where you choose the phone number for each alert. In addition you choose the type of alert, E-mail or Stock. The conditions of the alerts are all worded in detail to keep the process very easy to understand. Read me the following message: on the bottom right of the above image, allows you to choose what you want the voice to say into the phone (or your computer speakers) . When announcing stock prices, you can put [[Price]] anywhere in a custom message, and the voice will replace it with the price of your stock.

Caller ID details will be displayed in the top left window. The Announce Who Is Calling check box will cause the name of the person on Caller ID to be spoken out loud through your computer speakers as soon as it is detected.

Clicking the Edit Caller ID Block List button will display the Caller ID block options. There are two ways that numbers and/or names can be added to the Block List. One option is to enter a number and/or a name in the bottom right window and click Add To Block List. The second way to block is available after a solicitor calls your home, you can find that listing in your Caller ID history (top left window) and click where it says Click Here To Block Future Calls From This Caller ID. When a call comes in that is on your block list, that person hears the message labeled Message That All Blocked Callers Will Hear. You can change this message to anything you prefer.

When No Calls (Speak Alerts Only) is checked, all phone numbers will be ignored and Alert Phone will speak alerts using your computer speakers. This is very convenient for when you are around the house and don't want to stare at your monitor. This program runs in the system tray in order to inconvenience you as little possible in your everyday computing. The Minimize to system tray after each alert checkbox will make sure that it only opens up when it is actively setting off an alert.
